The WWF Oasis of Valpredina is one of the most unspoilt corners of nature in the Bergamo Pre-Alps.
The Oasis of Valpredina is characterised by its mixed forest with fields and rocky slopes. It is crossed by the Predina stream. At Valpredina there is an important WWF animal rescue centre (CRAS).

About Valpredina Nature Reserve

The Reserve runs along the southern slopes of Mount Misma at varying altitudes of 380 to 1160 metres from where it is possible to appreciate the panorama of the Orobie Alps.
With its temperate microclimate the Reserve consist mainly of a mixed woodland of English oaks, manna ashes and oak chestnuts, spaced out by rocky slopes and fields and crossed by the Predina stream.

Flora and fauna

Flora: there are various species of orchids, hellebores, lilies, cyclamens, double bird's-foot trefoil , various species of  anemone; golden glory, common hawthorn, butcher’s broom, downy oak hop hornbeam, turkey oak, chestnut tree, Upright European Aspen and elder. In the beautiful botanical garden grow many exotic species.
Fauna: European freshwater crayfish, great crested newt, fire salamander, golden oriole, Common cuckoo, Eurasian jay, peregrine falcon, common buzzard, common raven, blackcap, winter wren, black kite, common kestrel, tawny Owl, little owl, barn owl, red fox, badger, least weasel, marten, beech marten, edible dormouse, row-deer, deer and squirrels.

Visiting the Nature Reserve

Guided tours are available all year long on booking for school groups or groups of at least 10 people.
The Visitor Centre is open from March to November.

Visits on the environmental education trail are only by guided tours for groups of a maximum size of 25 people. Visits to other trails are free but guided visits are also possible (even up to the top of Mount Misma  at 1160 m).


Guided visits,  laboratories with social cooperatives for disabled people, agricultural and forest work and trail maintenance, olive harvest.

The Oasis of Valpredina is in the municipality of Cenate Sopra (BG).
Exit the A4 (MI-VE) highway at the Seriate exit in direction of Lovere (ss42) up to Trescore Balneario.
At the traffic light take a left turn towards Cenate Sopra; after leaving the town area follow the road signs to the nature reserve.
